Memories of the Treehouse- Shelley

I remember begging dad to build us a treehouse in the aspen tree in the backyard. I don't think it was really an aspen tree, but that's what we called it. We used to drag bags of leaves up there in the fall to use as chairs. Sometimes we would drape blankets over the edges and branches to make tents. We often played a game where there was some sort of mysterious "monster" in the backyard. We lived in the treehouse, the only safe place of course, and had to avoid this monster and collect food (leaves and raspberries) while running away from the moster that inevitable chased us back to the treehouse.
The treehouse had a rope ladder that you had to climb to get up. Although it was anchored at the ground, it often twisted as you climbed and so we had to develop certain techniques to climb up (especially if you were in a hurry because the monster was coming!)
